:( I'm glad his family has chosen for him to have a State Funeral. Money is tight, but I'm going to try my best to go to Victoria to say goodbye.


BORN: February 26, 1945, in Richmond.
FIRST RACE: Austin A30 at Winton Raceway in 1967.
FIRST BATHURST RACE: 1969 in a Holden Monaro.
BATHURST WINS: Nine.
FIRST BATHURST WIN: 1974 in a Holden Torana L34.
LAST BATHURST WIN: 1987 Holden VL Commodore.
LAST BATHURST RACE: 2002 in a Holden Commodore.
AUSTRALIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPION: 1974, 1978 and 1980.
AUSTRALIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP RACES: 210 including 185 for Holden, 16 for Ford and six for BMW.
TOTAL WINS: 37, including 32 for Holden, two for Ford.

1989: Left Holden and started racing for BMW and then Ford before returning to Holden in 1994. Had a brief stint also racing a Volvo Super Touring car in 1996.
1980: Awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to motor sport. 1986: King of Moomba. 1997: Retired from V8 Supercar racing, but returned for a one-off race at Bathurst in 2002. 2000 and 2004: Athlete liaison for Australian Olympic team. 2003: Won the Bathurst 24-Hour race in a 427 Monaro.
